Dimitris Giannakopoulos receives six-month stadium ban
The ESAKE sports judge has issued a six-month ban from all sports venues to Dimitris Giannakopoulos, the owner of Panathinaikos BC. The penalty follows disciplinary offenses involving social media posts on Instagram after Game 3 of the 2025-2026 A1 National League finals against Olympiacos, held on June 8, 2026. The judge ruled that these actions constituted a repeated defamation of the sport. In addition to the stadium ban, Giannakopoulos was fined 50,000 euros. Furthermore, Panathinaikos BC was also fined 50,000 euros for the same repeated disciplinary violation committed by its owner. The total financial penalties for the club and its owner amount to 100,000 euros.
