Omega Channel announces the fourth season of the documentary series De Facto
The documentary series De Facto, hosted by Sotiris Paroutis on Omega Channel, is returning for its fourth season. The episodes cover critical events in Cyprus from the 1960s to the present day. The premiere focuses on the March 1994 assassination of Theofilos Georgiadis, a Cypriot activist who supported the Kurdish independence movement. Another episode examines the activities of foreign intelligence agencies like the CIA and KGB in Cyprus during the early years of the Republic. The series also investigates the December 1963 intercommunal clashes, specifically the death of Turkish Cypriot Salihe Hasan and the killings of Greek Cypriot Kakoullou Panagi and Giannis Ellinas. Furthermore, the documentary explores the 1964–1968 period of Turkish Cypriot enclaves, which it describes as a policy influenced by Ankara and the TMT. The season concludes with episodes detailing the geographical separation of the island following the 1974 Turkish invasion. The production aims to provide historical context regarding the island's geopolitical trajectory.
