Fete de la Musique 2026 to be held in Limassol

The Alliance Francaise of Limassol, in collaboration with the Limassol Municipality, will host the Fete de la Musique 2026 festival on June 20 and 21, 2026, at Castle Square in the historic center of Limassol. This annual event has been organized in the city by the Alliance Francaise since 1987, as part of the international movement initiated by the French Ministry of Culture in 1982. On June 20, 2026, at 19:00, Limassol Mayor Giannis Armeftis and Alliance Francaise President Niki Papadopoulou Papa will officially open the event. The festival begins at 18:30 on Saturday with a percussion parade by the Batukinio ensemble, featuring 50 musicians marching from Agios Andreas pedestrian street to Castle Square. The first day's program includes performances by the Avant Tout Duo, a mandolin ensemble, and the Eirinaios Quartet. On June 21, 2026, the celebrations continue with the Limassol Municipal Philharmonic Orchestra and various performances covering genres such as Mediterranean, rock, ska, and traditional rebetiko. The event is free and open to the public, aiming to promote music as a universal art form.
