UCLan Cyprus hosts the 13th European Conference on Social Media

The 13th European Conference on Social Media (ECSM 2026) was held at the UCLan Cyprus campus in Larnaca on May 28–29, 2026. The event was co-organized by the university's School of Arts, Media & Communication and Academic Conferences & Publishing International (ACPI). Dr. Christos Karpasitis served as the Conference Chair, while Lambros Ioannou acted as the Programme Chair. The conference brought together international delegates to discuss research and practical applications related to social media. Topics covered included artificial intelligence, digital communication, online communities, social media ethics, user engagement, digital marketing, and misinformation. The proceedings featured keynote speeches, academic paper presentations, and professional networking sessions. This annual event, which has been running for over a decade, serves as a platform for interdisciplinary exchange regarding the impact of social media on various sectors including business, education, and governance.
