Fifth Cyprus Bloomsday Festival to honor James Joyce
The fifth annual Cyprus Bloomsday Festival will take place on June 16 at the ARTos House in Nicosia. Organized by Ideogramma in partnership with the Embassy of Ireland and the James Joyce Centre in Dublin, the event commemorates the 1904 setting of the novel Ulysses. This year’s theme, titled 'Women’s Voices in the Work of James Joyce, Ulysses,' focuses on female characters and the author’s life. The program begins at 8pm and features a bilingual performance in Greek and English by actors Erika Begeti and Ioanna Papamichalopoulou. Internationally recognized Irish tenor and pianist Morgan Crowley will provide live musical accompaniment. The event is curated by Lily Michaelides and is free to the public, though seat reservations are recommended. The festival remains part of a global tradition celebrating the date Leopold Bloom wandered through Dublin.
