Man arrested after physical assault in Ilion

On Tuesday, June 9, a 30-year-old man was arrested by police in Ilion following a physical altercation with a female driver. The incident occurred on a narrow two-way street on the border of Ilion and Kamatero. Both drivers were unable to pass each other, and a dispute arose regarding who should reverse to allow traffic to flow. The female driver stated she could not reverse due to safety concerns regarding oncoming traffic on a main road. The male driver, who identified himself as a professional driver, claimed he could not reverse due to a recent tendon surgery. The man exited his vehicle and assaulted the woman. Following the arrest, the man underwent a psychiatric evaluation by order of a prosecutor. Authorities reported that the individual is facing psychological issues. Subsequently, a court ordered his involuntary commitment to the Dafni psychiatric hospital.
