Recent theft and burglary cases reported in Nicosia
Nicosia police are investigating two separate criminal cases involving minors and young adults. In the first case, a 43-year-old shop owner reported a nighttime burglary at his electronics store in Nicosia. Authorities arrested two minors, aged 15 and 17, who confessed and led police to 19 mobile phones and one smartwatch they had hidden. They are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court. In a separate incident near Ledra Street, a businessman reported that four individuals robbed him of envelopes containing cash while he was walking in the city. Police arrested two suspects, aged 19 and 17, who failed to explain the source of money found in their possession. Some media sources identified the suspects in the robbery as Syrian nationals, though this detail was not mentioned in all reports. The court has ordered a six-day detention for the two robbery suspects to facilitate the investigation, which is being handled by the Central Police Station of Nicosia.
