Two arrested for alleged robbery of a businessman in Nicosia
Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, a 41-year-old businessman reported to the Lydra police substation that he had been robbed by four individuals while walking in the old Nicosia area. The victim stated that the assailants stole envelopes containing cash, with some sources specifying the amount as 1,000 euros. Police investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, aged 19 and 17, while two others remain at large. Reports identify the arrested individuals as Syrian nationals. Upon a physical search, police discovered money on the suspects, for which they could not provide a sufficient explanation. Both were arrested for illegal possession of property and were subsequently brought before the Nicosia District Court. The court issued a six-day detention order to facilitate further investigations. The Central Police Station of Nicosia is currently handling the case.
