Customs and anti-drug unit seize illicit goods in Limassol

On June 10, 2025, the Cyprus Department of Customs and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) conducted a joint inspection of three shipping containers arriving from Greece at a transport facility in Limassol. During the search, authorities discovered 1,440 cannabis-flavored lollipops, which have been sent to the State General Laboratory for analysis. Additionally, officers seized a significant quantity of children's toys suspected of violating intellectual property rights belonging to two different recipient companies. Another box, falsely declared as personal belongings, was found to contain perfumes and sunglasses that appeared to infringe on trademark rights. Notably, the package containing the unauthorized consumer goods was labeled for delivery to the 'Holy Monastery of Irene Chrysovalantou', a detail that further prompted the inspection. All seized items were transferred to the Limassol Customs warehouse for further investigation and verification by brand representatives. The authorities are currently continuing their assessment of the confiscated goods.
