Customs in Limassol seize cannabis lollipops and counterfeit goods from Greece

On June 10, 2025, Cypriot customs officers and the drug squad (YKAN) conducted a joint operation at a transport company facility in Limassol. The inspection involved three containers of goods originating from Greece. Authorities seized 1,440 cannabis-infused lollipops, which have been sent to the state laboratory for analysis. Additionally, officials discovered several boxes containing branded children's toys suspected of violating intellectual property rights. A separate box, declared as containing personal belongings, was found to hold perfumes and sunglasses believed to be counterfeit. Notably, this specific parcel was addressed to the Irene Chrysovalantou monastery, and both the sender and the recipient were listed as the same private individual. This discrepancy in the declaration and the address aroused further suspicion among customs inspectors. All seized items remain under investigation to determine their legal status and origin.
