Cyprus Foreign Minister addresses international status and peace efforts

Cyprus Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos reaffirmed that finding a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus issue remains the government's primary priority. Speaking at a reception hosted by the British High Commissioner in Nicosia, he emphasized that this solution must follow the UN-agreed framework of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with political equality. Kombos expressed gratitude for the United Kingdom's long-term support regarding peace efforts. He also discussed the ongoing Cypriot presidency of the Council of the European Union, noting the institutional responsibilities handled during a period of regional and European challenges. The minister highlighted that Cyprus has demonstrated resilience as a small member state while managing multiple emergency situations. With 19 days remaining in the current institutional cycle, the government remains committed to its stated objectives.
