Princess Bajrakitiyabha of Thailand dies at age 47

The Royal Palace of Thailand has announced the death of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendirebyavati, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, at the age of 47. She passed away peacefully at Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok on Thursday evening at 19:48 local time. The princess had been in a comatose state since December 2022, following a severe cardiac episode that occurred while she was training her dogs in the Nakhon Ratchasima province. She had remained hospitalized at the Thai Red Cross Society's Chulalongkorn Hospital since December 15, 2022. The Royal Household Bureau confirmed the passing in an official statement released on Friday. The palace further announced that a traditional 100-day mourning period will be observed, after which her cremation ceremony will take place. While reports mention she was in a coma for nearly four years, the timeline from her collapse in December 2022 until her death suggests a period of approximately two years.
