Police investigation into alleged kidnapping of 22-year-old in Larnaca

Authorities in Larnaca are investigating the disappearance and alleged kidnapping of Shahruar Ahmed Emon, a 22-year-old student from Bangladesh. Emon reportedly left his residence in Oroklini at approximately 6:30 p.m. on June 11, 2026, to attend his first day of work at a factory in the Kofinou area. Before disappearing, he shared his location with friends via a mobile application. His housemate reported him missing to the police shortly before 1:00 a.m. on June 12. Subsequently, his father, residing in Greece, received communication from an unknown individual demanding a ransom for his son's release. Police are currently tracing the victim's mobile phone signal and reviewing CCTV footage to establish his movements. The victim's phone is currently switched off, and there has been no further contact. Police have released his photograph to the public and are requesting anyone with information to contact the Larnaca CID at 24 804060.
