Empty seats observed at World Cup match between South Korea and Czech Republic
During the World Cup match between South Korea and the Czech Republic in Guadalajara, numerous empty seats were visible despite official claims of high attendance. FIFA reported an attendance of 44,985 spectators at the Estadio Akron, which has a total capacity of 45,664. Although the official figures suggest near-capacity, the visual reality contradicted these reports. Ticket prices for the match ranged from $400 for upper-tier seats to $500 for lower-tier seating. A significant number of the empty seats were located in areas reserved for sponsors, who normally occupy high-value tickets priced above $5,000. FIFA President Gianni Infantino had previously claimed that over 6 million tickets were sold for the tournament. The incident has fueled ongoing discussions regarding the high pricing of World Cup tickets.
