Overview of recent fire incidents across Cyprus
On June 17-18, 2026, multiple fire incidents were reported across Cyprus. In Livadia, Larnaca, a residential garage fire suspected to be caused by a photovoltaic transformer fault hospitalized the female owner due to smoke inhalation. Near the Larnaca port, an abandoned house caught fire at 4:40 am, causing extensive damage to furniture and waste materials. In the Tseri area of Nicosia, a blaze in a makeshift shed spread to scrap materials, two vehicles, and dry vegetation, requiring assistance from the Forestry Department and local machinery. A separate fire in Kissonerga, Paphos, destroyed one decare of dry grass and crops, while a rugged area in Kallepeia saw three decares burned near an illegal dump site. No fatalities were reported, and investigations into the causes of the fires are ongoing in coordination with relevant authorities.
