Summary of recent firefighting operations in Cyprus

Between June 12 and June 15, 2026, the Cyprus Forestry Department and Fire Service responded to several incidents. On June 12, a fire at Pera Oreinis was contained within 28 minutes. On June 14, an intentionally started fire at the Pregkos location in Neo Chorio was controlled by 06:10 after burning one decare, with three ignition points identified. A separate incident in Neo Chorio occurred on Friday with varying reports on the scale of damage and resources used. On June 15, a small fire on the median of the Larnaca airport-Rizoelia highway was extinguished in 15 minutes. Additionally, emergency services responded to a fire in the Astromeritis dead zone and a lithium battery fire in Limassol. An injured man was also rescued from a basement in Chloraka. All incidents are currently under investigation or managed by the relevant authorities.
