Summary of recent wildfires and incidents in Cyprus
Over the past few days, Cyprus has faced several fire incidents across the Larnaca and Limassol districts. On June 24, a fire at the old Skarinou-Kofinou road in Larnaca damaged two stationary vehicles, though a nearby workshop was saved. On June 23, a wildfire in Oroklini burned five decares of vegetation, controlled by the Forestry Department and Fire Service. On June 22, a forest fire at Monokommata in Sia was successfully contained by the Forestry Department. Additionally, a wildfire occurred in the Monagroulli area of Limassol on June 23, involving dense reeds. Previously, on June 20, a major fire between Alaminos and Kofinou destroyed six hectares of land and hay bales, requiring overnight surveillance. Authorities are currently investigating the causes of these fires, and no casualties have been reported from any of these locations.
