Probationary police officer dismissed in Nicosia following anabolic substance case

A 30-year-old probationary police officer was dismissed from the Cyprus Police force following his arrest on June 4, 2026. The dismissal was authorized by Chief of Police Themistos Arnaoutis with the approval of Minister of Justice and Public Order Costas Fytiris. The action was taken pursuant to Article 17(1) of the Police Law of 2004. Prior to his dismissal, authorities conducted a court-authorized search of the officer's residence in Nicosia. During the search, investigators discovered and seized 69 vials containing suspected anabolic substances. Following the initial discovery, the officer had been suspended from duty pending further investigation. Legal proceedings were initiated immediately after the discovery of the illicit materials.
