Omonia president Stavros Papastavrou discusses stadium plans and team investment

Omonia FC president Stavros Papastavrou shared updates regarding the club's development plans during a televised interview. He confirmed that he has personally invested over 20 million euros into the club since his arrival, describing his involvement as financial support rather than a traditional profit-seeking investment. A major focus of the discussion was the project for a new private stadium with a capacity of 16,000 spectators. The total project, which includes residential units, a hotel, offices, and retail spaces, is estimated to cost between 100 million and 120 million euros. Papastavrou stated that the bureaucratic process for securing permits is ongoing and expects to obtain them within the next two years. Once the permits are secured, construction of the stadium is expected to take between 12 and 18 months. Additionally, he emphasized his commitment to the team's growth, citing qualification for the Champions League as a key future objective. Papastavrou also noted that he has spent significant time in Cyprus over the last two years, finding the lifestyle personally rewarding.
