Drug trafficking ring involving former athlete and law enforcement officers dismantled in Athens

On June 10, the Internal Affairs Service of the Hellenic Police dismantled a criminal organization operating in the Attica region. The network, active since at least January 2026, specialized in the systematic trafficking of cocaine and cannabis. Authorities arrested six individuals, including a 32-year-old former professional footballer, his 28-year-old partner, and a 28-year-old police officer. Additionally, a special guard is named among the 24 individuals included in the case file. The 32-year-old suspect, who works in nightclubs, is accused of using his public profile to facilitate drug sales. His partner allegedly handled the storage and preparation of substances, while three relatives aged 29 and 50 are accused of supplying the drugs. The arrested police officer is alleged to have assisted the ring by distributing small quantities of narcotics. The operation resulted in the seizure of evidence linked to significant illegal financial gains.
