Japan implements LED light system to reduce highway traffic congestion

Japanese authorities have introduced an LED lighting system on major highways to address traffic congestion. The system features small light signals installed along the road at intervals of eight meters. These lights flash in specific rhythms to create the illusion of forward movement. Depending on traffic conditions, the lights signal drivers to adjust their speed, either slowing down or accelerating. This mechanism aims to subconsciously encourage drivers to follow traffic flow more closely. By reducing unnecessary gaps between vehicles, the system facilitates smoother traffic movement.
