FIFA requires Haiti to modify 2026 World Cup jersey
The Haiti national football team, set to participate in the 2026 World Cup, was required by FIFA to modify its kit design. The initial jersey design featured a symbol representing the Battle of Vertières, which some observers mistook for the Polish flag, citing historical ties between Polish soldiers sent by Napoleon in 1802 and Haitian independence. While Haitian authorities clarified that the emblem is a historical symbol of their country's first flag, FIFA mandated the change citing policies against the display of political messages. The jersey manufacturer, Saeta, confirmed it has collaborated with the Haitian Football Federation to implement the required design adjustments. Haiti, managed by Sébastien Migné and featuring player Frantzdy Pierrot, is grouped with Brazil, Morocco, and Scotland. This marks Haiti's return to the World Cup final stage after 52 years. The federation and the manufacturer have complied with the ruling to ensure eligibility for the tournament.
