ESAKE imposes sanctions on Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos
On June 10, 2026, during the A1 National League championship game between Panathinaikos AKTOR and Olympiacos, the ESAKE sports judge issued significant sanctions. Dimitris Giannakopoulos, owner of Panathinaikos AKTOR, received a one-year ban from entering all sports venues and a 50,000 euro fine for making disparaging public statements. Consequently, Panathinaikos AKTOR was also fined 50,000 euros for the actions of its owner. Separately, the club received an additional 40,000 euro fine and a two-game closed-doors penalty for failure to cooperate with authorities during the same match. Michalis Georgantis, the safety manager of the club, was acquitted of failure to cooperate charges. These decisions follow disciplinary hearings regarding the conduct of team management during the fourth final of the Stoiximan GBL.
