Fatal motorcycle accident on Nicosia-Limassol motorway

On Sunday, June 14, at approximately 8:20 a.m., 61-year-old Christos Siailos died in a traffic collision on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near Skarinou. Siailos was part of a group of ten motorcyclists when he attempted to avoid a dog on the road, which had been struck by a previous vehicle. Upon losing control of his motorcycle, he fell to the asphalt and was subsequently struck by a 58-year-old member of his group who was following behind. Despite wearing protective gear, Siailos was pronounced dead at Larnaca General Hospital at 9:10 a.m. Authorities had received a report of the dog on the road at 8:17 a.m. and were in the process of coordinating its removal when the accident occurred. Police have arrested the 58-year-old driver as part of the ongoing investigation, though initial alcohol and drug tests returned negative results. The victim's funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Saint Charalambos in Yeri.
