Panathinaikos parts ways with Ergin Ataman and targets Zeljko Obradovic
Panathinaikos AKTOR and head coach Ergin Ataman have officially terminated their contract by mutual consent on June 15, 2026. The departure follows a three-year tenure during which the team achieved a EuroLeague title and a Greek Championship in 2024. Team captain Kostas Sloukas publicly thanked Ataman for their shared accomplishments. Following the vacancy, Panathinaikos management is actively pursuing 66-year-old Zeljko Obradovic as his successor. Media reports suggest a proposed three-year contract worth 5 million euros. Obradovic, who currently resides in Athens, has not yet accepted the offer but is reportedly considering his future in coaching. The club aims to finalize the appointment rapidly to begin preparations for the upcoming season.
