Cypriot basketball player Filippos Tigkas moves to Mykonos BC
Cypriot basketball player Filippos Tigkas has finalized a deal to join the Greek professional club Mykonos BC. The 24-year-old guard, standing at 1.84 meters, is leaving Keravnos Strovolou, where he has played since 2021. During the 2024-2025 season, he recorded averages of 12.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in the domestic league, alongside 10 points per game in the FIBA Europe Cup. Tigkas previously played for Apollon and spent time in the AEK Athens youth system between 2018 and 2020. He also represented Cyprus during the EuroBasket 2025 tournament, averaging 10.4 points and 3.6 assists. This transfer marks his first professional stint outside of Cyprus. The move was humorously referenced by Petrolina AEK president Andreas Lefkaritis in December 2024, who jokingly wished for Tigkas to leave for a foreign league to decrease his impact on opposing teams. Sources provide slightly conflicting information on his exact age, citing him as both 23 and 24 years old.
