Personal income tax returns for 2025 launched in Cyprus
The Cyprus Tax Department has announced the upcoming launch of personal income tax declarations for the 2025 tax year via the TAXISnet platform. Tax Commissioner Sotiris Markides confirmed that the returns are expected to be available by the end of the current week. According to Cabinet decree KDP 260/2026 issued on June 12, 2026, the deadline for submitting the declaration and paying any resulting taxes or contributions without penalties or interest is October 31, 2026. Employees, pensioners, and self-employed individuals with a gross annual income exceeding €19,500 are legally required to file. The system will retain automated features that pre-fill data regarding pensions, income tax withholdings, Gesy contributions, and social insurance. The penalty for late submission has been increased to €150, up from the previous €100, as part of national tax reforms to encourage compliance. Taxpayers must complete the process via 'Final Submission' to ensure the declaration is valid, as 'Temporary Receipt' status is insufficient. Officials expect the number of filings to slightly exceed the 337,400 returns submitted for the 2024 tax year.
