Cyprus energy projects receive support from United States officials

Cypriot Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Michael Damianos visited the United States to hold talks regarding regional energy developments in the Eastern Mediterranean. During his visit, Damianos engaged with U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, White House energy adviser Jarrod Agen, and Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi. The discussions, which took place during events by the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum and the Atlantic Council, focused on hydrocarbon extraction and electrical interconnection projects, specifically the Great Sea Interconnector. Within the 3+1 framework involving Cyprus, Greece, Israel, and the United States, American officials reaffirmed their support for these initiatives. Damianos stated that these projects align with the strategic goals of regional partners and the U.S. to ensure energy security and stability. Meetings were also held with high-level representatives from international energy companies to discuss future cooperation. This diplomatic week is viewed by the Cypriot ministry as a confirmation of ongoing American backing for the nation's energy agenda.
