Real Madrid signs Marc Cucurella from Chelsea
Real Madrid has officially finalized the transfer of 27-year-old defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. The deal was confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano and follows the player's five-year tenure in England with Brighton and Chelsea. Cucurella, a key member of the Spanish national team at the 2026 World Cup, opted for the transfer after Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League, failing to qualify for European competitions. Despite reported interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, the defender chose Real Madrid, partly due to the prospect of working with manager Jose Mourinho. The move represents the first major signing under the newly re-elected club president, Florentino Perez. The player is expected to join the Madrid squad officially following the conclusion of his international duties. Although some reports highlighted his youth career at Barcelona's La Masia, the transfer has now been finalized in favor of the Madrid club.
