Plane crash near Butler, Missouri results in twelve fatalities
On the morning of Sunday, June 14, 2026, a single-engine plane operated by Skydive Kansas City crashed near Butler Memorial Airport, approximately 105 kilometers south of Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff, resulting in the deaths of all 12 people on board, including 11 skydivers and the pilot. Dennis Jacobs, director of the Bates County Emergency Management agency, reported that the aircraft failed to gain sufficient altitude and executed a sharp left turn before crashing roughly 300 meters from the runway. The crash site is located in a rural area adjacent to the airport. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the disaster.
