Cyprus presidency concludes final General Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg
Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna traveled to Luxembourg to chair the final General Affairs Council meeting under the Cypriot Presidency. The meeting serves as a conclusion to the work of the Cypriot delegation during its term. The agenda focuses on preparations for the European Council summit scheduled for June 18-19 in Brussels. Key topics for the upcoming summit include developments in Ukraine and the Middle East, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2028-2034, and EU competitiveness. Additionally, ministers will discuss defense, security, migration, and the European Semester. The council will address the draft negotiation framework for the new MFF, including the European Cohesion Fund, the European Competitiveness Fund, and the Global Europe mechanism. Finally, the council is set to approve the 18-month program for the upcoming trio presidency comprising Ireland, Lithuania, and Greece.
