Noverna poll assesses aftermath of May 24 parliamentary elections in Cyprus
A Noverna poll conducted between May 30 and June 10 for the newspaper Politis evaluated the results of the May 24 parliamentary elections in Cyprus. The survey findings indicate that public perception does not view President Christodoulides as a loser in the election context, despite significant public belief that he intervened in the process. Respondents noted the continued strength of DIKO and the doubled electoral support for ELAM as factors stabilizing the President's standing. While citizens expressed general satisfaction with the election outcome, they maintain low expectations regarding the effectiveness of the newly elected parliament. The data highlights individual political performances, identifying Annita Demetriou, the President of DISY, as the winner in terms of communication, and Stephanos Stephanou, General Secretary of AKEL, as having improved credibility. Overall, the findings reflect a mood of calm anticipation rather than political enthusiasm among the Cypriot public. The poll serves as the first post-election assessment by the firm, commissioned by Politis, to measure the political climate following the electoral period.
