Yemeni climber known as the Spider-Man dies after fall into volcanic crater

Al-Kapa Ibn Adar, a 30-year-old Yemeni climber widely known as the Yemen Spider-Man, died after falling into a 120-meter deep volcanic crater. The incident occurred at the Harda Dam, located near the city of Damt in southern Yemen, while Adar was attempting to climb the rock walls without safety equipment. Footage released by the Yemeni Civil Defense Authority shows the climber losing his grip during the ascent. Following a four-hour search operation, rescue teams recovered his body 30 meters beneath the surface of a sulfurous lake at the base of the crater. Adar gained social media notoriety for performing high-risk climbing stunts. In response to the tragedy, Yemeni authorities have issued a public appeal for all adventure athletes to adhere to safety protocols and use proper protective gear. The location of the accident is characterized by steep, rocky walls and a geothermal pool.
