Victims of Predator wiretapping scandal prepare civil lawsuits
Victims of the Greek wiretapping scandal, including journalist Thanasis Koukakis, are preparing to file civil lawsuits next week seeking damages. These legal actions target Tal Dilian, his spouse, Felix Bitzios, and Giannis Lavranos, all of whom have previously received significant prison sentences totaling 126 years for their involvement in the distribution of the Predator spyware. Furthermore, the lawsuits will be directed against nine employees of Intellexa, the company responsible for marketing the malicious software. Attorney Zacharias Kesses will represent the victims in these proceedings. Simultaneously, the Supreme Court Prosecutor's Office has received two requests to reopen the judicial investigation into the surveillance scandal, despite a recent decision by prosecutor Konstantinos Tzavellas to archive the case. While the legal proceedings continue in civil courts, reports also suggest the existence of documents implicating potential state involvement in the surveillance activities, fueling ongoing political and judicial debate in Greece for the past four years.
