By-election for Aglandjia deputy mayor scheduled for June 28, 2026

A by-election to fill the vacant position of deputy mayor of Aglandjia will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2026. The vacancy follows the resignation of Andreas Konstantinou, who was elected as a member of parliament. Two candidates have officially filed their nominations: Prokopis Prokopiou, supported by the Democratic Rally (DISY), and Andri Hadjiandreou, an independent candidate backed by AKEL and EDEK. The official nomination process concluded on June 18, 2026, with a 24-hour window for formal objections ending on June 19. Eligible voters include citizens of the Republic of Cyprus and other EU member states who are 18 years of age and registered in the municipal rolls. The Ministry of Interior stated that lost or damaged election booklets can be replaced until June 26 at 2 p.m. at the Nicosia District Office.
