By-election for Deputy Mayor of Aglantzia scheduled for June 2026

The Ministry of Interior of Cyprus has announced a by-election to fill the vacant position of Deputy Mayor of Aglantzia, which became open after the incumbent accepted an incompatible role. Candidates must submit their nominations on Thursday, June 18, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Office of the Election Commissioner in the Nicosia District Administration. Nomination forms are available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same office. To be valid, each nomination must be signed by two registered electors from the Aglantzia municipal district, acting as proposer and seconder. Candidates must also provide written consent, a €500 fee, and a declaration confirming eligibility under Articles 17 and 18 of the 2022 Municipalities Law. If multiple valid nominations are submitted, a by-election will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
