On June 15, 2026, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao, Philippines, at a depth of 112 kilometers, according to the USGS. Some sources report the magnitude as 6.3. This tremor followed a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sarangani province last week. The national disaster response agency reports that the death toll from the initial quake has reached 61, with 40 people missing and over 1,400 injured. More than 720,000 people have been affected by the disaster. Additionally, approximately 63,900 homes were damaged or destroyed, with infrastructure losses estimated at 1 billion pesos, or 16.5 million dollars.
