Limassol municipality removes bollards on Theklas Lysioti street

Limassol municipality crews removed newly installed bollards on Theklas Lysioti street to facilitate student drop-offs and pick-ups in front of local schools. Mayor Yiannis Armeutis announced the action following the continued installation of bollards by the Department of Public Works despite prior objections. This move is part of the municipality's broader push for corrective interventions regarding ongoing road projects, as outlined in an 11-point letter sent to the Ministry of Transport. While the municipal administration supports the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), Mayor Armeutis has criticized the current execution for lack of proper planning and functionality. The Mayor stressed the need for safer infrastructure for residents and students, urging the Department of Public Works to address the identified design flaws. Public Works officials have responded by stating that feedback regarding the project is being taken into account.
