PASYDY challenges suspension of Deputy Ministry of Tourism Director General
The Central Secretariat of the PASYDY civil service union has expressed strong concern regarding the Public Service Commission's (PSC) decision to place the Director General of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism on a three-month suspension. Alongside this suspension, the official faces a 50% reduction in salary for the duration of the three-month period. PASYDY claims this move sets a worrying precedent as it was implemented without exhausting other available administrative procedures. The union argues that, in line with past cases, an administrative investigation should have been conducted alongside a temporary transfer of the official. PASYDY emphasized that the roles of political heads, such as Deputy Ministers, and administrative heads, such as Directors General, must remain distinct. The union has requested an urgent meeting with the President of the Republic to discuss the matter. They maintain that the Director General's role is to ensure legal compliance in policy execution, while the political head is responsible for strategic direction.
