The Statistical Service of Cyprus reported 13,905 job vacancies for the first quarter of 2026, representing a vacancy rate of 2.8% of all positions. The highest vacancy rates were observed in the arts, entertainment, and recreation sector at 5.1%, followed by construction at 4.7% and accommodation and food services at 4.0%. In absolute numbers, wholesale and retail trade led with 2,649 vacancies, while accommodation and food services had 2,189. Other sectors showing significant demand included construction with 1,997, professional and technical activities with 1,086, and public administration with 922. Starting in Q1 2026, the data is compiled using the new NACE Rev. 2.1 classification, rendering these figures non-comparable to previous periods. To assist with transitions, the Statistical Service will provide data under both old and new systems throughout 2026 via the CYSTAT-DB database. Historical series under NACE Rev. 2.1 from 2018 onwards are expected to be released following further revision work.
