Ministry of Education releases framework for school violence prevention
The Educational Psychology Service and the Counselling and Career Education Service of the Ministry of Education have jointly developed a new policy framework to address serious school violence and delinquency. This initiative, which has already been distributed to schools, provides clear guidelines for identifying, managing, and monitoring physical, verbal, sexual, psychological, and online violence. Research cited in the document suggests a strong link between school delinquency and low academic performance or motivation. The framework mandates that schools prioritize prevention while ensuring the safety of all students once an incident occurs. Support protocols are included for all involved parties, specifically targeting the mental recovery of victims, witnesses, and perpetrators to prevent recurrence. Educators are tasked with systematic monitoring and reviewing these procedures to maintain a safe learning environment. The policy emphasizes that academic failure often acts as a catalyst for behavioral issues, making preventative intervention critical.
