DIPA and DIKO discuss centrist cooperation amid internal re-evaluations

The Democratic Party (DIPA), represented by Alekos Tryfonidis, expressed readiness to engage in a dialogue for a stronger centrist space following an invitation by DIKO president Nikolas Papadopoulos. DIPA emphasizes that discussions should prioritize ideological issues, specifically the Cyprus problem, based on equal footing rather than absorption. Party leader Marios Karoyian has previously engaged in preliminary talks with the Ecologists and EDEK regarding potential cooperation. Meanwhile, DIKO is conducting an internal review of recent challenges, with Nikolas Papadopoulos set to present future plans at a Central Committee meeting. DIPA announced a nationwide conference scheduled for early July to analyze its own recent electoral performance. The party acknowledges both internal errors and external factors, such as concerns over the 'wasted vote', as reasons for its results. Provincial organizations have already begun submitting critical assessments to guide the party's reorganization.
