Redevelopment plans for Pedieos Linear Park updated to 30 million euros

The redevelopment project for the 11.8-kilometre Pedieos Linear Park in Nicosia, Strovolos, and Lakatamia has seen a budget increase to over 30 million euros, up from the initial 2022 estimate of 22 million euros plus VAT. The project, approved under the THALIA 2021-2027 programme as part of the Integrated Spatial Development Strategy for metropolitan Nicosia, is co-financed by 85% EU funds and 15% local municipal contributions. The plan features extensive improvements including four outdoor gyms, 11 playgrounds, 14 pedestrian bridges, an artificial lake, and 190,000 square metres of new plantings. Costs for the initial study and supervision alone are set at 1,356,000 euros plus VAT. The work will be executed in two phases, with Phase A covering the Public Garden, Prodromos Park, Agioi Omologites, parts of Strovolos, and Lakatamia A. Phase B will encompass the remaining areas, including the Presidential Palace, Athalassa Avenue, and the Magli Lake. Residents and organized groups have already participated in public consultations regarding the proposed improvements.
