Presentation of Irvin Yalom's new book in Athens

The bookshop Ianos in central Athens is hosting a presentation for the 2024 book 'Hour of the Heart', written by existential psychiatrist Irvin Yalom and his son, psychotherapist Ben Yalom. The event features an online contribution from Ben Yalom, who resides in the United States. Irvin Yalom, born on June 13, 1931, recently celebrated his 95th birthday in Palo Alto, California, where he resides with his second wife, Sakino Sternberg. Speakers at the event include neuropsychologist Eva Danasi and translators Yiannis Zervas and Evangelia Andritsanou. The book reflects on Yalom's grief following the 2019 death of his first wife, Marilyn, as well as the challenges of the pandemic and his advanced age. In September 2025, Ben Yalom noted that his father's quality of life has declined due to his current frailty and limited mobility. Collaborators describe the work as a final contribution to the author's extensive career in psychotherapy.
