Cyprus, Greece, Israel, and the US hold 3+1 energy dialogue in Houston
Representatives from Cyprus, Greece, Israel, and the United States met in Houston, Texas, last week for the 3+1 Energy Dialogue. The participating countries agreed to develop a cooperation roadmap outlining specific objectives and actions, aiming for approval by the end of the year. The meeting featured the formal launch of the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Center, a project linked to the Eastern Mediterranean Security and Energy Partnership Act of 2019. Discussions emphasized the role of the Great Sea Interconnector as a key infrastructure project to link Cyprus and Israel to the European Union's internal electricity market via Greece. Cyprus’ Energy Minister, Michalis Damianos, represented the Republic of Cyprus at the session. The meeting highlighted the participants' commitment to regional energy security and connectivity. Officials noted that these initiatives serve to integrate regional energy interests into a broader strategic framework. The gathering serves as a follow-up to ongoing energy security and stability discussions between the four nations.
