Chevron manager highlights progress on Cyprus' Aphrodite gas field
Basil Allam, the Chevron Cyprus country manager, stated that Cyprus is a key player in the energy integration of the Eastern Mediterranean. In an interview with Parliament Magazine, he highlighted the geological richness of the region and the high-quality gas reserves found there. The Aphrodite gas field, located in Block 12 of the Cypriot exclusive economic zone, is cited as a primary example of this potential. Allam confirmed that the project has officially entered the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase. This stage serves as a critical technical prerequisite before a final investment decision can be reached. According to Chevron, the project reflects a strategy to enhance regional energy supply while leveraging Cyprus' geographical proximity to key markets. Collaboration between governments remains a central factor in the development of the field.
