Koilani to host traditional Glytzisto Festival on July 5, 2026

The village of Koilani will host the Glytzisto Festival on July 5, 2026, at the Koilani Events Venue from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event celebrates the traditional sweet treat known as glytzisto, which is central to the local culinary heritage. Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Maria Panayiotou is scheduled to address the event during the official programme starting at 3:00 p.m. A significant part of the ceremony includes honoring former Koilani community leader Apostolos Giannakas for his long-term service. Highlights of the festival feature the production of the first-ever 'Jumbo Glytzisto' and the debut of glytzisto varieties prepared in a hearth. Visitors can participate in cultural activities, watch live demonstrations, enjoy folk performances, and purchase local products, including food and souvlakia. The festival is designed for attendees of all ages, with specific activities for children.
