Cyprus Anti-Corruption Authority issues report on the Rybolovlev legal dispute
The Independent Authority Against Corruption in Cyprus has published a report regarding allegations of judicial manipulation involving Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev. The investigation stems from accusations made by journalist Makarios Drousiotis in his book, 'State Mafia', claiming a coordinated effort to influence the legal outcome of Rybolovlev's divorce dispute with his former wife, Elena Rybolovleva. The Authority identified potential criminal acts involving former Nicosia District Court President Charis Solomonides, the law firm Andreas Neocleous & Co LLC, and lawyer Panagiotis Neocleous. Charges against Solomonides include bribery and illicit enrichment, while the law firm and its lawyer face allegations of active bribery and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. A focal point of the investigation is the hiring of the judge’s wife by a firm linked to Andreas Neocleous & Co shortly after the issuance of favorable court orders for the oligarch. The report asserts that the timing of this employment and the failure to disclose the actual employer suggest a conflict of interest. Elena Rybolovleva had been seeking approximately $4.5 billion in a Geneva court, and the alleged scheme aimed to force an unfavorable settlement.
