Historic motorcycle of Archbishop Makarios restored by Harley-Davidson Cyprus
A 1960 Harley-Davidson FLH Duo Glide motorcycle, once part of the official escort fleet for Archbishop Makarios III, has been fully restored. The project was completed through a partnership between the Cyprus Police and Harley-Davidson Cyprus, with the latter covering all restoration costs and labor. The motorcycle, which had been out of service for over 50 years, is now in excellent, fully operational condition. It was originally donated to the Archbishop by a Cypriot expatriate in the United States who was a shareholder in Cadillac. This donation also included two other motorcycles and a Cadillac, the latter of which is currently displayed at the Archbishop's Palace. The restored vehicle remains a significant exhibit at the Cyprus Police Museum in Nicosia. Technicians spent nine months working to restore the bike while preserving its original character. The police expressed gratitude to the company for safeguarding this piece of Cypriot cultural heritage.
