Recent fire incidents in Nicosia district and Troodos area
Over the past 24 hours, the Cyprus Fire Service responded to multiple incidents across the Nicosia district and the Troodos area. A residential fire occurred in Lakatamia on Saturday at 15:01 when an iron left on fabric ignited, damaging a first-floor bedroom; the resident escaped unharmed. In two separate incidents, vehicles were destroyed by fire in Tseri and Kokkinotrimithia, with authorities investigating possible arson in the latter case. Furthermore, a vehicle caught fire on the Troodos-Platres road while being driven by the father of First Lady Philippa Karsera-Christodoulidou, causing no injuries. Another unrelated arson case involving a 23-year-old's vehicle is under investigation in Agioi Omologites, which also damaged a nearby gym and shops. The Fire Service reported managing 43 calls in total, including 25 fires and 17 special services, throughout the day.
